Former COngressman Andy Jacobs Jr. on C-Span2 Sunday

March 24th, 2006 6:06 am

Andy Jacobs, Jr. will be on C-Span2’s Book TV Sunday, March 26 at 8AM and 7PM talking about his book “1600 Killers, A Wake-up Call for Congress.”

From the Book-TV.org description of his book:

Former Indiana congressman Andy Jacobs takes a critical look at U.S. wartime presidents in his new book, “The 1600 Killers.” The author argues that since the Korean War several U.S. presidents have entered combat illegally since they were started without the consent of Congress. During his presentation, Mr. Jacobs reads several passages from his book and answers questions from the audience. This event was hosted by Big Hat Books in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Primary coming: register to vote

March 23rd, 2006 6:06 am

The IDC wants to remind you to register to vote for the primary that will be happening on May 2nd. The deadline to register to vote (or update your current registration) is April 3rd!

Also remember that Indiana’s new Voter ID law (the most restrictive in the nation, and currently being challenged in court) will be in effect. It requires voters to have an up to date and accurate government-issued photo ID. Make sure your ID exactly matches your voter registration card.

Also, the deadline to file for an absentee ballot is May 1st.

The Carson Campaign needs volunteers!

March 23rd, 2006 6:02 am

Comes via the MCDP list:

The Julia Carson for Congress campaign is currently in need of volunteers to help with making phone calls and with data entry.  Please call Melissa at 231-6700 or e-mail her at melissa@juliacarson.org if you are available and can help at any time.

Another event at which the Congresswoman will need volunteers is a voter registration drive this Saturday, 3/25.

We’ll be meeting at 10:45 am on Saturday at Julia Carson’s Garage (2530 N. Park Avenue).  Please plan to arrive a few minutes earlier for instructions, and remember to park on the street!

Congresswoman Carson is one of the best members of Congress, and it’s an honor that she serves the citizens of the 7th District. She’s also a great get out the vote candidate and a good down ticket draw, so helping her helps Democrats at every level in the 7th District.
