Update to the IDC Membership Meeting tonight

October 25th, 2005 9:52 am

Tonight’s speaker will not be Fran Quigley of the Indiana Civil Liberties Union. It will instead be the Hon. Jackie Nytes of the Indianapolis/Marion County City County Council giving a talk on “Human Relations and Equal Opportunity in the City of Indianapolis: An Analysis of Proposal 68″.

This should be a very interesting evening as Proposal 68 was defeated by the City County Council despite a Democratic majority. The Indiana Democratic Club passed a resultion expressing displeasure with our fellow Democrats who voted against this proposal. The Hon. Ms. Nytes was the proposal’s sponsor.

Future events:
Tuesday, Nov. 22 Membership Meeting “John Kennedy - His Life and His Death” Speakers: Steven Nicewanger and Robert Jackson. Sponsors: Martin and Kate Hinman, IDC Board members.

Tuesday, December 13 Annual Holiday Party - Bona Thompson memorial Center, 5350 University Ave, Indianapolis. Mayor Bart Petersonw ill be on hand to talk about the past year and the upcoming year in Indy. All you can eat for $5. Sponsors: Hon. Paula Lopossa, Jean Breaux, Leon bates and Angela Davis. (More sponsors could still be used for the dinner [$70] and wine [$150 for your own label on a case of wine at the dinner]) For more information or to make a reservation, call Ken or Cheryl Kern at (317) 353-6038
